There is no better place for a tourist on the lookout for adventure and romance than Tanzania, which offers the best of Africa in terms of wildlife and natural beauty. The United Republic of Tanzania was formed by the union of two independent African Republics: Tanganyika and Zanzibar, in 1964. Both Tanganyika and Zanzibar had been German protectorates and later came under British occupation.

The former became the first of Britain’s East African territories to gain independence in 1961. Zanzibar followed later in 1963. Today’s Tanzania is a vibrant and progressive economy and an island of peace and tranquility in Africa.
