Visitors to Tanzania are required to possess a valid passport and visa. Nationals of most Commonwealth countries (except Canada and UK), Scandinavian countries, Republic of Ireland, Rwanda, Rumania and Sudan are exempted. These nationals can avail of a free visitors pass, valid for 1-3 months, and obtainable at the point of entry.

Cost of a visa varies from country to country: US $55 for British nationals, US $45 for Americans, US $26 for Japanese, US $16 for Germans and US $10 for others. Visas are valid for 3 months mostly. Immigration rules are different for Zanzibar and Pemba. One month’s permit is usually given. Nowadays visas can be obtained at any entry point.
